Matthew Hay-Roe, DVM
Veterinarian

Dr. Matthew Hay-Roe was born in Canton, Ohio, and his family moved to Phoenix in 1998. He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson and graduated with his Veterinary Science bachelor’s degree in 2011, followed by vet school at Colorado State completed in 2016. During both undergraduate and veterinary school, Dr. Hay-Roe performed in bands on some weekends and continues to do so. He has worked at several veterinary practices in the Phoenix area and has also worked at specialty and emergency hospitals around Arizona. His special interests include liver diseases, animal reproductive health, and dentistry. He lives in central Phoenix with his wife, son, and 2 lovable cats. Desiree Garthe, DVM, CVA
Veterinarian

Dr. Garthe has worked in the veterinary field for over 35 years. She started her journey in the industry following her high school graduation. She began working as a receptionist in a very busy veterinary hospital in the city of Chicago. She continued her employment in the veterinary world as a technician while putting herself through college. Once receiving her undergraduate degree in Chemistry she decided to further pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She attended the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and graduated with honors with a Doctorate Degree in Veterinary Medicine in May of 2001.

Dr. Garthe is a general veterinary practitioner whose professional interests are in dentistry, acupuncture, and rehabilitation. She is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and is currently working on a certification in canine rehabilitation.

She loves to spend her free time with her family which includes her husband, James; her 2 sons, Aidan and Owen; her Boston Terrier, Zeke; and her 2 cats Rocky and Ruby.

Annette Richmond, DVM, CVA, CCRP
Veterinarian

Dr. Richmond graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. She became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and has been integrating acupuncture for dogs and cats into her practice since 1999. She has continued to study natural medicine including Eastern and Western herbology, homeopathy, and flower essences, as well as nutraceutical support. Dr. Richmond completed the Certified Canine Rehabilitation Program through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2009 and continues to help animals with therapies including the underwater treadmill, cold laser treatments, electro-stimulation, and ultrasound treatments. She has recently moved to the Phoenix area and looks forward to working with this wonderful new team. Angela Casey, DVM
Veterinarian

Dr. Angela Casey was raised in St. Louis County, Missouri. Her dad is an animal lover, so it’s no surprise she had a lot of dogs and cats growing up. Dr. Casey graduated from The University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, in 1992. She has been a veterinarian with more than 30 years of experience and a deep knowledge of pet nutrition and integrative medicine. It will be a pleasure to help keep your beloved pet healthy! My goal is to provide a complete, integrated approach to wellness, nutrition, and pain management, tailored to each animal's needs. Dr. Casey has published an article in the IVC Journal, Winter 2016, titled The Integrative Management of Degenerative Myelopathy. Shawn
Educational Consultant

Shawn grew up in Wisconsin and Arizona. She has always had a love for animals which extended into adulthood where it influenced her to go into the veterinary field. Shawn considers her biggest accomplishment to be raising 3 sons along with her husband and earning her Master's degree. Shawn immensely enjoys the education and professional development side of veterinary medicine and has found great joy in being able to support veterinary assistants and staff in continuing to grow in the field.

What does Shawn love about working at PPAH? Shawn said that it is impossible to narrow it down to one thing- the staff, the level of care and compassion present at Paradise Point Animal Hospital, and the teamwork approach all make it an amazing place to be.

Alysha
Customer Service Representative

Alysha grew up right here in Phoenix, Arizona. She has always been empathetic to pets and enjoys taking amazing care of clients so working in the veterinary field as a Customer Service Representative has proven to be the perfect combination for her. Alysha describes her household as her own personal zoo which includes 5 kitties and 2 dogs. In her free time, Alysha enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 kids. 

What does Alysha love about working at PPAH?  She describes a sense of familiarity and comfort that comes with working here at PPAH, with a universal focus on doing the absolute best for our patients.

Chris
Customer Service Representative

Chris is a native of Arizona, growing up right here in Phoenix. He “stumbled” into working in the veterinary field after a long history of interesting experiences with animals as he was growing up and into adulthood. Chris’ passion in the vet field lies in utilizing practices like Fear-free tactics to handle pets who are fearful and in turn potentially aggressive. Chris is a proud pet parent to a kitty named Leo. In his free time, Chris enjoys the great outdoors including hiking, and swimming as well as indoor fun like watching movies and creating new culinary delights. 

What does Chris love about working at PPAH? He describes the environment as very supportive with a focus placed on the physical and emotional well-being of our patients as well as the staff.

Leslie
Veterinary Technician

Leslie is an Arizona native who started off in the human field and then realized her true calling was working with animals in the veterinary setting. Leslie is currently working on her certification as a CVT and has a special interest in cat-friendly practices to help our feline friends feel at ease. She also enjoys the dental aspect of veterinary medicine as well as client education. Leslie has 3 fur babies, a pit bull mix, Gracie, a Chihuahua, Koda, and 19-year-old Kitty. Outside of her busy schedule, Leslie enjoys traveling, going to the gym, and paddleboarding.  

What does Leslie love about working at PPAH? She said it is hands down the family environment.

Helena
Veterinary Technician

Helena grew up in Washington and California and was passionately involved in animal rescue with her family which catapulted her to work in the veterinary field. She looks forward to working towards and obtaining her Certified Veterinary Technician credentials. Helena has 1 kitty, Rosemary whom she describes as “sweet and spicy”  Rosemary was rescued by Helena when she was only 4 weeks old. In her time away from work, Helena enjoys traveling “back home”, playing pickleball, and hanging out with her friends.  

What does Helena love about working at PPAH? She says she deeply appreciates the welcoming environment along with the opportunity to learn new skills and grow in the field.
